Major Educational Partnership Set to Advance the Turks & Caicos Fly Fishing Industry

The Turks and Caicos Islands Community College (TCICC) has formally endorsed a partnership with the Turks and Caicos Fly Fishing Association (TCFFA), marking a significant milestone in the development of our local fly fishing industry. In a formal letter of endorsement addressed to TCFFA President Levardo Talbot, TCICC President/CEO Dr. Candice Williams committed to a comprehensive partnership that will strengthen the future of fly fishing in our islands.

Key Partnership Highlights:

  • Development of professional guide certification programmes

  • Youth engagement and skills development initiatives

  • Research and internship opportunities

  • Technical and vocational training aligned with industry needs

  • Support for sustainable policy development

This collaboration brings together key stakeholders including the TCFFA, the Bahamas Fly Fishing Industry Association (BFFIA), and TCICC in a unified effort to empower local communities and protect our valuable natural resources.

Strategic Vision

The partnership aims to position Turks and Caicos as a premier fly-fishing destination while ensuring economic diversification, job creation, and environmental stewardship. Industry experts and master fly fishing instructors, including Prescott Smith, Ann-Marie Albury and Joel Moxey from The Bahamas, have provided valuable insights that have helped shape this multi-sectoral approach.

Moving Forward

TCICC and TCFFA will work alongside the Ministries of Education, Natural Resources Tourism to develop and implement sustainable policies and regulations that safeguard the long-term viability of our fly-fishing industry. This partnership represents a crucial step forward in the TCFFA's mission to create a sustainable and prosperous future for locally empowered fly fishing in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
